(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS offers three different language electives, but the most popular choice is Spanish, the second most widely spoken language in the world.

Sophomore Morgan DeGlopper is taking Spanish 3 with teacher Valerie Finnegan.

“I feel like it will help me later in life,” said DeGlopper. “Especially because I want to live in Spain someday.”

DeGlopper’s classmate, sophomore Amanda Hamende, also thinks that the course is worth taking.

“The class teaches me a lot about the culture,” said Hamende. “I plan to study abroad and knowing the culture and language would be really helpful.”

Senior Markella Paradissis-Wagner took three years of Spanish here at LRHS.

“It’s been really useful to me because I write stories with a lot of Hispanic characters in them,” said Paradissis-Wagner. “It helps me make them more believable.”
