(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS boys’ varsity basketball team made it to regional quarterfinals this year, and senior Damien Gordon was a big part of making that happen.

Gordan has been on the LRHS boys’ varsity basketball team since his freshman year.

“I have been playing for the Lakewood Ranch varsity team since my freshman year and have enjoyed it,” Gordon said.

Gordon began playing basketball at around age five. His basketball career has lasted almost 13 years.

Gordon started playing basketball because his whole family did while they were in high school. He wanted to continue this tradition and has been playing ever since.

Gordon said, “Basketball is fun and that is why I continue to play it.”

Besides playing for the LRHS varsity basketball team, Gordon has also played for clubs and even taught the sport to others.

Former Philadelphia 76er Allen Iverson has been Gordon’s biggest inspiration since he was a little kid.

Gordon does plan to continue playing basketball and has a scholarship to St. Petersburg’s Eckerd College, where he will continue his basketball career.

Eckerd is a division two college in St. Petersburg and Gordon is looking forward to attending it.
