(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The annual LRHS College and Career Fair took place Friday in the gymnasium. Grades 10-12 were invited to attend this event.
The college and career fair is an opportunity for students to gather information on different career paths that they could pursue in the future.
Tables were set up throughout the gym with exhibits, paperwork, treats and helpful people eager to answer questions.
Junior Jade Patterson said she was happy to see some of her prospective college choices there.
“University of Central Florida and Florida State University because I love Florida,” she said. “They’re close enough and far enough away from home.”
Corporate representatives said they enjoyed the fair as well.
Tropicana advisor Nicole Ackerman said a reward of her job is, “dealing with people, not being stuck on a computer all day. I also work from home sometimes, which is nice. I work in human resources.”
When it comes to college, advice from college students are always welcome. A Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) student said, “Don’t give up. If you think you know what you want to, keep going. Your major doesn’t matter. I have a science major. If you don’t get in the first time, keep going.”
LRHS junior Madison Schaefer said, “The College Fair was very helpful because it helps me try to find a career and school to continue with major.”
Junior Noah Gibbs said, “The College Fair is helpful because it helps me determine my feature.”
LRHS college and career adviser Michelle Todoroff said the fair was a success.
“Year after year, the college and career reps say that Lakewood Ranch High School has the best High School Fair in all of Florida,” she said.
