Amanda Hamende – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The new LRHS track is complete. The athletes are currently using it for practice, but the team is planning to use it for future competitions.
LRHS track coach Mark Napier feels like the track helps the athletes a lot.
“I love it,” Napier said. “It’s nice having a spongey track. It feels like running on a big air cushion and I and the athletes have noticed a huge difference.”
The new track will help both the track athletes and the physical education classes. Both Sarasota High School and Palmetto High School recently invested in new tracks.
Napier said, “With this new track, it will attract more people to our school for competitions. Before, no one would want to come to a bad track facility, but with the new one, hopefully it will bring in more people for competition. I am very happy with the new track.”
Track athlete Regan Brahler, sophomore, stated, “The track helps reduce the impact on my knees and I enjoy it. It is much better to run on than on the old track. I love the track with my spikes on, too.”
