(LAKEWOOD RANCH) – As the end of the school year approaches, Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) season begins. FSA’s are used to track student progress in subjects such as language arts, math and any subject that requires an end-of-course exam.

The testing window for FSA writing opens on March 1 and closes on March 9. Freshman and sophomores will take the writing assessment in their language arts classes.

LRHS test administrator Jeff Simmons said, “Students can go online to the different accounts that are given to them when they are given their testing letter to take certain practice tests that they can do to prepare them, so they can succeed.”

Sophomore Cameron Willis took the test last year, and said, “Preparing for the test is very helpful because taking tests is a stressful thing to do, especially state testing. It was easier than I expected. I shouldn’t have worried so much.”

Morning announcements will direct students on when and where they go to take their FSA exam.
