(LAKEWOOD RANCH)- On Feb. 27 Chinese pianist Lin Ye will be playing the piano for the fine arts students in the auditorium. Immediately afterward, sophomore Samantha Zappala will be performing a classical piece, also on the piano.

According to his biography, Ye left his native China home to study at the Hochschule for Musik in Hannover, Germany, in 2008. He was just 15 years old. He has been awarded many first and top prizes in many musical competitions around the world since then.

Ye was awarded third prize in the Artist Series National Competition of Sarasota, Florida.

This free event arranged through Rebekah Lester’s keyboard classes is a generous offer from Lee Ross, the Co-Founder of the Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota and the Director of Outreach and Competitions.

“I’m excited to have him share his wonderful talent with the students and I am very grateful for this opportunity from the Artist Series of Sarasota,” said Lester.

She hopes the students leave the auditorium with a smile on their faces because music is an important puzzle piece in life.

Lester draws inspiration from French poet Victor Hugo, who said, “Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.”
