(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On Friday, Feb 9, LRHS HOSA students attended the Region 5 competition at Keiser University in Sarasota.

Students competed in events such as Medical Spelling, Public Health, First Aid and Rescue Breathing, and Dental Terminology. LRHS sophomore Kara Smith said, “This was my first time competing and it was so nerve-wracking, but I had a lot of fun.”

HOSA took home many bronze, silver, and gold medals, qualifying them for the State Leadership Conference (SLC) in April.

Students have been preparing for regional competitions since September. Sophomore Cameron Willis stated, “My team and I got first place in Public Health and it’s so cool to see that all our hard work paid off.”
