Kara Smith and Cameron Willis – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – This Valentine’s Day, the varsity boys’ basketball team is competing in the district semi-finals. The game at 6:45 p.m. is at home against Palmetto High.

Boys head basketball coach Jeremy Schiller is proud of how the team has done this season, “We are always confident in our ability because we prepare at a high level. We work hard to build on our confidence in all situations.”

He added, “[I’m] really proud of our growth from the beginning of the season to now. We…played one of the most challenging schedules in the state. We are looking forward to continuing to get better, and work toward our ultimate goal of a state title, one game at a time.”

The Mustangs basketball team is currently ranked eighth in Florida, and third in class 8A. Their record so far this season is 22-4.

Junior Brady Roberts is excited to compete in the team’s third consecutive district semi-finals, “It’s a big accomplishment for the program, it shows all the hard work we’ve been doing over the past couple years to get here, but we still have bigger goals in mind.”
