(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Last weekend was the LRHS Silver Stars dance teams’ third year attending National Dance Team Championships (NDTC), and posted one of their best finishes ever.

They began their drive to Orlando’s Disney All-Star Resort early Friday morning where they practiced for a few hours and later went to Disney Springs for a team dinner.

The team competed with their jazz routine- a smooth, fluid, and emotional style of dance- and pom routine- a high-energy style of dance with many sharp movements and formation changes- and would be competing against over 100 different teams in their division.

Although neither of their two routines placed into semi-finals, their pom routine was 0.1 point from qualifying, making it the closest they’ve been to qualifying for semi-finals in their three years at NDTC. The team was able to walk away feeling accomplished and hopeful for next year’s nationals.

The team spent the last two days of the competition watching finals and spending time with each other at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

Sophomore Sophia Chivas said, “I was excited to experience my first nationals and I really got to know the team and create a stronger bond between everyone.”

Sophomore Madison Cartano said, “My second nationals experience was one to remember. Although we did not take home the win, we all bonded and became closer as a team. I am excited to see what else we will be able to accomplish next year.”
