Mustangs succeed at Latin forum

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS Latin club members visited Plant High School this past weekend to compete in the Region VII Latin Forum. The competition had an assortment of events ranging from Creative Arts to Mythology.

Creative Writing and Latin teacher Stefania Mitzithras said, “The kids did phenomenally well and represented LRHS in the best possible way.”

Club members competed against 12 different schools including local rivals Out of Door Academy and St. Stephen’s.

Mitzithras also stated, “These students thrive in an environment of competition and in this situation with schools like Tampa Preparatory and Berkeley Preparatory, the competition was fierce and they held their own.”

The winning Mustangs of the weekend included:

1st Place: 

Brooke Anderson (tie, Classical Art)

Josie Nemeth (tie, Creative: Maps)

Mackenzie Hopkins (Olympika, 1 mile)

 2nd Place:

Scott Baker (Mythology)

 3rd Place:

Julia Kuehn (Latin Literature)

Chloe Maugans (Advanced Latin Vocabulary)

Olivia Miller (Creative: Maps)

Josie Nemeth (Mythology)

4th Place:

Brooke Anderson (Creative: Paintings)
