(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS academic team (A-team) has two students going to state competition, senior Cypress Potter and junior John Lin.

A-Team is a competitive academic team where students in groups of four compete against students from other schools. The questions range in all subject areas from English Literature to computers and technology.

In order to qualify for states, students have to attain one of the top six individual scores over the course of the county season.

Potter said that A-Team has inspired her to push herself into academics and it has given her an enjoyable activity to participate in.

Potter wanted to be in A-Team because, “It looked fun and it seemed to fit my nerdy personality.”

Potter has never been to states before. She is excited for states because she is looking forward to competing with others from around the state and she wants to have fun.

Lin said A-team has impacted him by, “Showing what things I’m good at.”

Lin is most excited about states because he wants to go there and have fun. He has never made it to states before.

The reason Lin wanted to be in A-team was that he likes trivia and likes to test his knowledge. He also loves the competitiveness A-team brings.

States competition is scheduled for April 19-21 in Orlando, Florida.
