Blood drive saves over 300 lives

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Tuesday Mustangs rolled up their sleeves to donate blood. The blood drive committee organized several drives this year, but this one was also a scholarship opportunity sponsored by the organization Buckle Up for Bubba and Bswag (BUBBA).

BUBBA is an organization created by two mothers who lost their children in a tragic 2011 car accident on the corner of Rye Road and State Road 64.  The two mothers are the blood drive’s biggest supporters; so much so that BUBBA will double the amount of money the committee raises for member scholarships.

One Blood community account representative Tricia Gagliradi said, “We are pleased to share with you that the recent blood drive resulted in 114 units of blood. Remember, each donation can save up to three lives, so that means 342 patients could benefit from the lifesaving efforts of blood donors from your organization. We encourage you to share the drive results with the rest of your team and please pass along our gratitude.”

The blood drive committee hopes to have an even better turnout at the next blood drive, which is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8. Flyers and announcements will be advertised around campus come the month of April.
