(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS’ varsity girls soccer team put up a good fight at Thursday’s district final, but ultimately lost 2-1 against Manatee High School.

The two teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the second half. When the game continued to overtime, Manatee scored the winning goal.

By advancing to the final, the Mustangs guarantee themselves a spot in the regional playoff round.

Senior Sydney Wicks said, “It’s sad that we aren’t district champions, but the season isn’t over yet and we could easily see Manatee again in regionals.”

Sophomore Morgan DeGlopper added, “We played really well for the most part of the game, but we can improve on communication and decision making, and keeping the team on the same page.”
