(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Wednesday night, Manatee school officials recognized several LRHS students for outstanding artwork, which was displayed at the Superintendent Student Art Gallery, ‘Night on the Fifth’.

The following Mustangs were recognized –

  • Brianna Donahue
  • Jewelles Bryne
  • Sophie Walker
  • Sarah Eckstrom
  • Faith Schyck
  • Lily Sutton
  • Hailey Morrow

Junior Lily Sutton was one of the seven Mustangs chosen. “I tried every year to get this opportunity, and when I heard I finally was chosen I was so excited,” stated Sutton.

Sutton decided to draw a quick piece of a profile of a woman with gold glasses that she found online. “The picture just really caught my eye and interested me when I saw it,” added Sutton.

The piece of art was made out of chalk pastel medium onto a piece of paper.

Sutton also said, “I really enjoyed being able to see everyone else’s art work that was chosen, and also being able to speak with the superintendent who makes all these big decisions.”

Sophomore Sarah Eckstrom stated, “It was so cool to be able to get a feel for what a real gallery would feel like.”

Each of the winners was given a certificate and a coin of excellence for their superior artwork. They all look forward to doing it again next year.
