Counselors advise juniors

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- With registration approaching, spring semester has been a busy time for the LRHS guidance office. School counselors have been meeting with juniors to help prepare them for their senior year.

School counselor Melissa Alter said, “We always like to make sure that graduation requirements are being met and that students are aware of what their graduations requirements are so no surprises happen especially because they will be seniors next year.”

Guidance counselors are visiting 11th grade history classes to help students plan for the future and let students know of the options and privileges they will have senior year.

Alter also commented, “I think we filled in some missing information. The more we address it, the more attention is brought to students who aren’t motivated by themselves or parents.”

After one counselor meeting, junior Mikaela Campbell said, “It was nice to be able to discuss our future plans and get a better understanding of the requirements for college.”

Junior Peyton McLaughlin said, “It made me realize I need to start thinking about college and how important it is to work hard now so it will pay off in the end.”

Counselors visited ninth, 10th, and 12th graders earlier in the year.
