Taylor Butler – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- This past Friday the LRHS Future Farmers of America (FFA) swept all other competitors at the district level competition, taking first place in three different categories. Each category is a different type of competition, but all competitions tie back to agriculture in some way.

The winning categories were Parliamentary Procedure, Creed, and Safe Tractor Operations. Parliamentary Procedure is a competition that tests the knowledge of proper meeting conduct for the FFA handbook. Creed is a competition in which FFA students must study and remember the FFA creed and recite it word for word back to judges. There are also follow up questions on the history and writing of the creed. Finally, Safe Tractor Operations tests the knowledge and proper operation of a tractor.

Winners for each competition include –

Parliamentary Procedure team members are JT Girman, Jackson Dugmore, Kylee Graham, Andrea McPherson, Savanah Freitag, Maggie Yates, Isabel Castro, and Emma Thompson. The Creed winner was Kendyll Munger and the Safe Tractor Operations winner was Coy Godwin.

All of the winners above will move onto the state level competition in June, 2018 to compete with other district winners from across Florida.

Anyone interested in joining FFA see adviser Janyel Taylor in room 913.
