(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – A new year means NFL teams making their way to the Super Bowl. At the end of the divisional playoffs, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Atlanta Falcons 15-10, the New England Patriots dominated the Tennesse Titans 35-14, the Jacksonville Jaguars upset the Pittsburg Steelers 45-42, and the Minnesota Vikings came back in a game against the New Orleans Saints 29-24.

Next week the Conference Championships start with two games, the Jaguars against the Patriots and the Vikings against the Eagles. The winners of the games will go on to play each other in the Super Bowl on Feb. 4.

During this season, one of the most popular questions is “Who do you want to win the Super Bowl?” Though some people would happily answer this, some Mustangs would prefer to answer the question, “Who do you NOT want to win?”

Senior Jacob Riffe does not want Philadelphia to win. Riffe said, “I don’t want the Eagles to win their conference game against the Vikings because I’m not a fan of them and I’d love to see the Vikings be relevant.”

LRHS senior Jaden Hamilton said, “I want the Jaguars to lose against the Patriots. I don’t know too much about the other two teams, but I think if the Vikings made it to the Super Bowl, it would be a fun game to watch.”

Seniors Nick Limoncelli and Michael Mullen agreed that they do not want the Patriots to make it to the Super Bowl.

Mullen said, “The Eagles are my team, they are good and therefore I know they are going to win.”

As the days get closer to the big game, the tension between the teams and their fans build. The anticipation will continue to build until someone takes home the Lombardi Trophy.
