(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Silver Stars competed against other dance teams from across the country at Florida Dance Championships (FDC) on Jan. 15 at ESPN World Wide of Sports in Orlando.

The team placed third in the Small Varsity Pom division and sixth in the Small Varsity Jazz division.

A big part of attending FDC for the team was being able to dance on that stage. The stage at FDC is the same one they will perform on at National Dance Team Championships (NDTC) in early February. This gives them the advantage of performing on the stage as practice for when NDTC nationals roll around.

Competing at FDC also allows the team to receive scoresheets from the judges so that they can make changes to their two routines based on what the judges are looking for. That way they will be even more prepared for nationals.

Sophomore Hana Tomik said, “I’m very glad that we went to states because we are much more motivated to work harder and we will know exactly what we have to fix and improve before nationals.”
