(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)-  The new LRHS athletic track seems to be on “track” for completion this February.  Construction began in late November and they have made progress to keep it on schedule.

Work continues on the LRHS track

The goal of the project is to provide a rubberized surface for track athletes to run on to avoid injuries.  With this new track, LRHS can host track meets.

LRHS athletic director Shawn Trent stated, “We are on track for completion.  The people who have been doing the work seem to be doing a really good job.”

The track still has work to be done.  Trent added, “Basically the asphalt has to sit for about a month.  They put the asphalt down before we left for Christmas Break, so it’s got another week or two.”

Trent said, “Around the 15 of January they are supposed to come in and put the rubber surface on top of the asphalt and then all they have to do is the lines.”
