Largest LRHS club has long “to-do” list

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Lakewood Leaders is the largest club on the LRHS campus and with the new semester beginning, many new events are becoming available to its members.

The first club volunteer opportunity this semester is the Gene Witt School Advisory Committee/Parent Teacher Organization (SAC/PTO) meeting. Here volunteers will watch small children while their parents are taking part in the meeting. This event will be held from 5:45-7:30 p.m Jan. 18 and Feb. 1. Only four volunteers are needed for this event.

Another opportunity offered to the members is the “Bridge a Life” program. This program involves the volunteers watching children while their parents attend the support group. The “Bridge a Life” program is held on Jan. 11, Feb. 8, March 8, April 12, and May 10. Spots are limited to five volunteers per program.

Members can also volunteer at the McNeal Elementary SAC/PTO, where the club members will watch the children while their parents take part in the meeting. This event is limited to three volunteers per event. This event will be held on Jan. 16, Feb. 20, March 20, April 17, and May 15.

The last and largest volunteer opportunity for Lakewood Leaders members is the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading. During this event, the volunteers will be assembling kindergarten readiness bags. There will be two shifts per day for this event. The times are 3 – 6 p.m. and 6 – 9 p.m. on Jan. 24 and 3 – 6 p.m. and 6 – 9p.m. on Jan. 25. There will be a max of 50 participants allowed.
