(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) are having a mandatory meeting for members competing for a spot in the State’s Star Events category.

The FCCLA website said STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation.

Students from all over Florida come together to spend time with one another while competing for bronze, silver, and gold medals and certificates.

They compete by creating projects and portfolios on different topics, such as cooking, world and political news, advocacy, child neglect, sports nutrition and many other exciting areas.

Senior Ty’Raiona Roberts said, “I can’t wait until State’s Star Events, it’s the only thing I look forward to besides graduating this year.”

Senior Brinttnee Johnson said, “State’s is so awesome.”

Senior Taylor Hiler stated, “Competing at State’s is a good opportunity to meet new friends across Florida.”
