(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – With winter break approaching, the LRHS Mustangs athletics teams have set their schedules for the time off from class.

The boys varsity basketball team has two tournaments planned. The first is the prestigious 45th Annual City of Palms Classic that will be held at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena on the campus of Florida Southwestern State College in Fort Myers.

The tournament will be held from Dec. 18-23, and the Mustangs’ first game will be 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 19 against Memphis East High School. Memphis East is the number one ranked High School basketball team in the nation.

The City of Palms Classic is the premier Boy’s High School Basketball Tournament in America.

The second tournament is the 44th Annual Kingdom of the Sun Tournament that will be held at Vanguard High School in Ocala from Dec. 27-30. The schedule for this tournament has not been released yet.

Head coach Jeremy Schiller said, “We are excited to play over break, especially in these big tournaments. I think it will be a good chance for our guys to get some exposure to better teams.”

The girls varsity basketball team (3-1) has a game at Venice on Dec. 19. From Dec. 28-30, the girls will be in Orlando competing in the Florida Prospects Girls Basketball Tournament.

The Boys (7-0) and Girls (3-1-2) varsity soccer teams will not be playing any games over winter break. In addition, with the installation of the school’s new track, the remaining home games for both teams will be played in the East Manatee Bulldogs Football Stadium.
