(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Last Tuesday, the LRHS Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) traveled to the Day Spring in Parrish for their annual district meeting.

The meeting is held every school year in order to elect new district officers and for members to familiarize themselves with members from different chapters around the county.

LRHS chapter president-elect Morgan Kirchman said, “FCCLA is honestly my life, and I love the people in it. Beyond that it has a lot of leadership opportunities and prepares me for the future. ”

At the meeting members did team bonding activities, elected new district officers, and chose candidates to run for state officers. Members also discussed the next upcoming state competitions.

In March members will travel to Orlando for the State Leadership Conference where they will compete for a chance to go to national competition. This year’s state theme is “Ignite Your Potential with Florida FCCLA.”

Kirchman is excited to compete and said, “FCCLA has helped teach me how to be a leader and speak in front of people professionally.”
