Markella Paradissis-Wagner – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) -The LRHS band is ready for its annual Prism Concert at 7 p.m. on Dec. 7 in the LRHS auditorium.

Like a prism reflects an array of colors, the Prism Concert shows off every facet of the LRHS Band Program. The night is full of performances featuring the Marching Mustang Band, symphonic band, the wind ensemble, jazz 1 and 2, percussion and color guard classes.

The Prism Concert is also a huge fundraiser for the band. There will be a silent auction in the auditorium lobby featuring themed baskets like “Expresso 101″ and Crafty Christmas.” It is also the only concert of the year that charges an admission fee, $5.

To close the night, the Marching Mustangs will perform their 2017-18 season show, “REDEMPTION,” which has music based off the wind ensemble piece “The Divine Comedy” by Robert W. Smith and the video game art by Tal Peleg. The final performance signifies the official end of the marching season.

“I am excited for Prism Concert and I think it’s important because every section gets their own spotlight and they get to show how they’ve improved since the beginning of the year,” said sophomore alto saxophonist Ethan Horn.

Color Guard prepares for Prism, too

Tori Price – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)-  The annual LRHS Prism concert is a performance that the LRHS Marching Band program has done for years. The 2017 production is scheduled for 7 p.m. this Thursday in the school auditorium.

This is a performance where each section of the band gets to perform their own piece. Everything performed is created by the students, not by their teachers or directors. This gives the students a chance to show off their creativity and talent.

The hosts of the show this year are seniors Christina Rosabol and Lily Sutton.

The LRHS color guard will also be performing that night. They will be split into a dance piece and an equipment piece, which will include flags and sabers.

Color guard member Kyra Rouse said, “I’m performing in the dance piece and we are dancing to the song ‘In Summer’ from the movie ‘Frozen’.”

Color guard member Phoebe Bond added, “I’m a part of the equipment group. We’ve been working hard in class on the piece and I can’t wait to show off what we have. We will be twirling to the song ‘Equations’ from the move ‘Little Prince’.”

There will be gift baskets to win during intermission. All fans have to do is put their names on slips to enter for a chance to win. There will also be other gift baskets for purchase.
