(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS athletic department is getting a new track to use in the near future. They began construction last week and many athletes are excited for its arrival.
Sophomore Anna Stock is track athlete.
“I am delighted that they are finally putting in a rubber track that is suitable for county wide meets that we can host at our school,” she said.
LRHS athletic director Shawn Trent stated, “Downtown is paying for the new track. This one is much better for health reasons. It means less pressure on the knees and hips of runners, plus it gives us opportunities to host track meets, which produces income for the school.”
The estimated cost for the new track is over $500,000. It is expected to be completed around the first week of February and be ready for track season.
