(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS art department is hosting its annual winter gallery 6-8 p.m., Dec. 8 at LRHS Main Street.

Each student involved in the art department is asked to donate one piece, which is then donated for sale. Those who wish to purchase an art piece on the night of the gallery can set the price.

The average fundraising from these galleries is roughly $1,000, which is used to buy art supplies for the year.

LRHS art teacher Abby Kolesa, said, “We keep the [leftover] artwork for the Art Slam, which comes up in March. It’s another fundraiser for us and it raises about another $1,000.”

The funds raised at the Art Slam are used as a “kick starter” for the following year.

All art students are asked to participate and to attend.

Kolesa added, “I put an ad for it in the newspaper to get as much community involvement as we can. We try to get the surrounding area to help fundraise for the effort instead of just asking students for donations.”
