(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Several members of the Academic Team (A-Team) made progress toward qualifying for the Manatee County A-Team at the November meet.

In order to qualify for states, students have to have one of the top six individual scores over the course of the county season. Every question students get right will help their score and every question students get wrong will hurt their score.

LRHS junior John Lin is currently in fourth place in the standings. Senior Jared Herbert is currently just outside of the top six. However, he has a great chance to make the team at the final meet.

LRHS A-team Adviser Ben Hall said there is a difference between a normal meet and state competitions.

“States is just focused on team scores, not individual scores,” he said.

The final meet will be on December 5 at St. Stephens Episcopal School.
