Bella Sellmer – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS boys’ basketball season is about to start and the school’s girls basketball season is already underway.

The Mustang boys’ first preseason game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24, against Spoto High School.

Then on Saturday, Nov. 25, the boys will take on Clearwater Central Catholic High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

Boys basketball coach Jeremy Shiller said, “I am excited and so is the team for this season. We think we have an opportunity to play for a state title if everyone competes and tries as hard as they have been.”

The Lady Mustangs’ first preseason game was on Nov. 13 against Boca Ciega High School, and the ladies took home a win.

The girls season continues with a tournament in Jacksonville over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Girls basketball coach Melanie Johnson said, “I think the team is very brilliant and extremely disciplined. I believe if they are to continue to be this way on and off of the court they will have a great and successful season.”
