(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS had their latest poetry slam on Thursday, Nov. 16.

About 30 people came to watch the nine participants in the poetry slam.

“It was a good turn out and it was exciting to see all the hard work the participants put into their performance,” said LRHS English department chair Tatum Temple.

LRHS Junior and Creative Writing Club President Jesse Rines won the slam with a score of 8.67.

“It was a great experience to finally see all the work creative writing and speech and debate put into the event. It was also pretty cool to win a slam- I’ve been in three at the Ranch and other outside competitions and this was my first win,” stated Rines.
