Mustang football reflects on 2017

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Mustangs varsity football team is putting the finishing touches on the 2017 season.

The Mustangs looked promising after starting the season with three straight wins.  Back to back loses to Venice, Palmetto, and Braden River, however, knocked the Mustangs out of playoff contention.

Although their 3-5 season did not go as planned, head coach Mick Kozcersut likes to look at the positives from the year.

“We started off the year strong. Those first three games were big for us and when you are in a district with Venice, Palmetto, and Braden River, every game is important,” said Kozcersut.

“It is disappointing how we ended the year, losing our last five games, but the guys played hard every game. We just did not execute enough plays to be successful.”

The Mustangs will be holding their annual Football Banquet at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 at the LRHS Country Club.
