(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- This past weekend LRHS junior Johnny Reid ran at the Florida Runners Class 4A State Finals.

Coming in at 15:58, Reid not only won 10th place overall, but broke multiple LRHS records.

LRHS 2017 graduate John Rivera set a record for the Boys State Meet with a time of 16:31 last year, but Reid crushed it by 33 seconds last Saturday.

Reid also became the third runner in LRHS history to break 16 minutes for a 5k race, with his time following close behind Mustang Mike Walsh’s 15:54 in 2002.

Reid is proud of his performance, “I’m really happy with it. Going in, I was hoping for top 10.”

Reflecting back on last season, Reid said he feels he peaked too early, but he believes this season was a success.

Though he has high hopes for next season, the race isn’t over yet.

Reid will be running in the Foot Locker Championships race next week, where he is also hoping for a sub-16 time.
