Mike Rogers – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- On Saturday, Nov. 11, the LRHS Speech and Debate team held its first tournament.

Almost 300 competitors from schools across the area participated.  Organizers said it was a particularly large crowd for this type of event. This tournament made up for some events lost due to weather.

LRHS took home some victories.   with Freshman Mackenzie Hopkins and Sophomore Macy Lentini placing fourth place out of 29 team in the Public Forum Debate in their very first competition.

LRHS English teacher and team adviser Amanda Hargen is very happy with the team’s success, “Overall, it was a wonderful event. Special thanks go to all of the teachers and staff who lent us their rooms.”

The team plans to travel to its next tournament Dec. 2 at Tampa Newsome High School.
