Morgan Lingle – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- This weekend the LRHS Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Raider teams competed at the district meet at Braden River High School.

The three Mustang teams took off for their 5K run at 8 a.m. and then all the teams competed in each of the events – a 5k run, litter carry, obstacle course, tire flip, rope bridge, and first aid test.

The LRHS female mixed team tied for second with Manatee High School. However, since Manatee ran 24 seconds faster in the 5K, they took home second and LRHS took home third.

This competition was particularly tough. The other high schools that competed at this meet were Braden River, Bayshore, Sarasota, Manatee, and Palmetto.

Girls team member senior Mackenzie Mazzella said, “I am really grateful that I got to compete with this group of girls and we did our personal best. I can’t wait to see what this team becomes in the future years.”
