(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS boys and girls golf teams represented the school at the Class 3A FHSAA State Championship, at Mission Inn and Resort. The girls finished in seventh place, and the boys finished 11th.

Head boys coach John Victor said that the team struggled to get much going.

“I’m proud we returned again this year, but the team didn’t play their best this weekend,” he said. “We didn’t quit, but we unfortunately could not get any momentum on our side.”

Team captains senior Mike Wijas and junior Drew Angelo led the team with scores of 159 for the 36-hole tournament.

Wijas claimed that the course played tough over the weekend, and that he hopes the team performs well next year.

Victor said that states were a great learning experience, and that next year the team will be ready to get after it.

Coach John Victor and girls coach David Lamm said they thank everyone for their support this year.
