Cross-country season ends at regionals

 Johnny Reid – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity cross country teams saw their seasons end as a team at the Class 4A Region 2 meet last Friday, Nov. 3.

Both teams gave valiant efforts, as the top six teams advanced to the state finals, but ultimately, they fell short.

The girls team placed eighth as a team and were led by sophomore Ava Klein who got 32nd overall and senior Shay Lee who finished right behind in 33rd.

On the boys’ side, they finished ninth as a team. They were led by junior Johnny Reid who crossed the line third overall. Sophomore Calvin Drake finished 47th to end the season.

The top 15 individuals also qualify for the state finals, so Reid will be headed to the state finals to represent the Mustangs.

The FHSAA Cross Country State Finals will take place at Apalachee Regional Park at Florida State University.

Race day is this Saturday, Nov. 11. All four classes will be racing, with the Class 4A boys race beginning at 10:25 a.m.
