(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS senior Emma Price spent her Thursday career shadowing a pediatric dentist for her senior project.
Price has been interested in a career as a dentist her whole life, “I have always been interested in medicine and science, and I always liked the dentist growing up.”
Price spent the day observing the dentist while she filled cavities and handled difficult children with special needs.
“I enjoyed the opportunity to see how she ran her own office and staff. I now understand the importance of establishing a relationship with the child before starting the dental procedure to ensure a smooth process,” said Price.
Price’s favorite part about her experience was seeing the paperwork and real processes behind running a dentist office, however, she still wishes to shadow in other medicine related fields in order to address any other careers she wants to pursue.
“If I pursue being a dentist, this opportunity showed me that I definitely want to be a pediatric dentist. After babysitting and being involved in Early Childhood Education throughout high school, I realized how much I love being around kids,” said Price. “I am definitely interested in this career and am glad I had the opportunity to shadow the dentist.”
