(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Five dedicated LRHS FFA members represented the school’s chapter at national FFA convention this past week.

LRHS seniors Isabelle Chamness, Alyssa Mckinney, Cara Zeveney, and Jessica Bierds attended the national convention for the second time, while it was the first year for LRHS seniors Kylie Duquette and Tommilyn Tharpe.

FFA advisor Janyel Taylor, who has been attending with students for the past four years, guided the members.

“We had a lot of fun this year,” she said.  “It was different than last year because we were competing at a national level this time around, but it was a new kind of fun.”

This year the LRHS FFA was recognized as a three-star national chapter, they also qualified in the top ten in the nation for strengthening agriculture, and placed 16th in the nation for quiz bowl.

Quiz bowl judges challenges your knowledge of FFA and FFA history.

Bierds agreed the experience was different this year.

“It was a lot different this year,” she said.  “Last year was more agriculture tour oriented and impacts on agriculture while this year was a lot more about being on site at the convention area.”

Members said they had a memorable time.
