Csenge Csicsek – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS chemistry teacher Alicia Moody has been nominated for the Site Representative for the district’s Excellence in Education award.
“It was an honor to be nominated as a Site Representative for the Excellence in Education Awards from LRHS,” she said. “I began my 30th year of teaching this school year. I have completed 16 years as a teacher at the Ranch.
“We are blessed to have so many exceptional teachers on this campus. There are teachers that are far more deserving of this recognition. I am not the type of teacher that needs or seeks out awards. My rewards each day come from students who finally get a concept we have been working on or from emails from college students thanking me for preparing them for their college chemistry class.”
Moody said the most important thing she does each day is to assess and meet the individual needs of her students.
“My goal each day is to be the best teacher I can be for my students,” she said. “The most important thing I do each day is bring a positive attitude and a smile to the classroom. Students respond well when they know a teacher cares about their academic progress.”
Moody said challenging students is a key to classroom success.
“I want my students to work cooperatively with their peers and gain confidence in their ability to take on rigorous course material and succeed,” she said.
