(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS varsity swim team had an outstanding District Championship Meet this past weekend on Oct. 28.

“Coach Kyle (Steinberg) and I were blown away by the team’s performances in the pool. Our swimmers have worked very hard all-season long… especially these past few weeks, and it truly paid off in their results,” said head coach Julie Santiago.

The team had 13 swimmers qualify for the Regional Championships meet coming up on Saturday, Nov. 4.

The swim team also earned three district championships at this meet. These swimmers were junior Sebastian Aquirre in the 100 fly, sophomore Katelynn Coons in the 50 freestyle, and sophomore Emily Massengale, who not only won the 100 back, but also set the unofficial American Deaf Record in that event.

“This was the best meet of the season for me and many of my fellow teammates. I am extremely excited to have qualified for Regionals again and I hope to have another great meet this Saturday,” regional qualifier Coons stated.
