Morgan Lingle – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – This weekend the LRHS Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) participated and helped support two 5k runs. A group of cadets served as a color guard and ran/walked for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer at Benderson Park. Another group of cadets set up for the Boo Run on Lakewood Ranch Main Street.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is an annual 5k run/walk; all the donations and proceeds go to research breast cancer. This year, a group of eight cadets walked the 5K after they presented the colors before the walk. They presented the United States Flag and the Florida State Flag while the National Anthem was played.

Senior and Cadet Command Sergeant Major Elsa Fagulha, who attended Making Strides, said, “It was very inspirational and more cadets should volunteer, and I hope we get to partner with them again next year and many years after that”.

The Boo Run is a Halloween 5K that JROTC has volunteered at for four years in a row.
