Emma Brooks – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – This past Wednesday, Oct. 25, about 330 LRHS Mustangs took the PSAT/NMSQT. Students began lining up at 7:30 a.m. for check-in and the test concluded at 1:30. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors all had the opportunity to take the test.

Sophomore Manoela Dos Santos talked about her experience with the PSAT, “The test was a lot easier than I thought it would be, and I’m glad I took it so I could be prepared for the real SAT.”

If a junior student scores high enough on the test, he or she can qualify for participation in the National Merit Scholarship competition.

“This test is great practice for anybody who wants to get a feel for how the SAT or ACT will be. It also is a great step for people who are looking for scholarships and are interested in attending college,” said Jeff Simmons, LRHS testing coordinator.
