Nick Maxham – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Mustangs football team has a home game at 7:30 this Friday against the Sarasota Sailors for senior night. It’s their second to last game of the season and the last home game.
The senior cheerleaders and football players are both excited and a little sad that this is their last game in front of their fans.
Jackson Dunlap said, “It’s so surreal that this is my last game at this school and that we’re a couple months away from graduating. It seems like just last month we were playing Sarasota as freshman. We’ve all gotten much bigger and better than we were as freshman, obviously, so it’s going to be cool to see who prevails in our last matchup against each other. I know our whole senior class is going to be super excited and motivated to give our fans something they will remember.”
Jack Hudson said, “Wow. It’s unbelievable that this is our last game together. I love these guys, all the work and practice we’ve put in over the years. The best part is we did it all together; we count on each other and gained trust each other over time. It’s going to be hard to watch us all split up and go to college but I believe in all of my teammates.
It’s also senior night for the Marching Mustangs band, the Silver Stars dance team and the school’s cheerleaders.
Maddie Mercer said, “I’m excited to dance with my team at the game, but I’ll be really sad when it’s all over.”
Clarinet player Jamie Thomas said, “I’m sad it’s my final football game, but I can’t wait to rock the stands one last time.”
Trumpet player Anthony Pistella said, “It’s bittersweet because an amazing chapter of my life is ending, but a new one is beginning.”
