Boys golf headed for states

Matthew Dugan – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS boy’s golf team finished second place in the class 3A regional tournament Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Lakewood National Golf Club. The boys will advance to the state championship tournament for a second straight year.

Led by Matt Bruton’s 76 and Drew Angelo’s 77, the team came in with a score of 322 to finish runner-up to Naples Gulf Coast (320).

Coach John Victor is happy to be moving on, however wasn’t too impressed with the team’s performance, “I personally feel we should’ve won that, although I’m happy with advancing.  The team didn’t perform at their best level.”

The Mustangs will head to Mission Inn Resort and Club next weekend in hopes of taking home the title.
