Mustangs runner suffers season ending injury

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – With only three weeks left in the cross-country season and state competitions right around the corner, the girls varsity team is struggling to overcome injuries.

Currently, three of the seven varsity runners haven’t been able to run in practice due to lower leg injuries. Freshman Amelia Skoumal recently went to an orthopedic to get a diagnosis and an estimate of when she will be fully recovered.

Skoumal was told that she will not be able to finish the season.

Skoumal described her experience, “I’ve worked so hard this season to get better and help my team make it to states. It’s just a letdown when your told you can’t run for the next couple weeks, especially when districts are next week.”
