(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS boys and girls golf teams won their district championships Monday at the Misty Creek Country Club. With a score of 323, the girls beat Venice by 14 strokes. With a score of 312, the boys bested Riverview by nine strokes.

Ashleigh Angelo led the way for the girls with a 74, followed by Natalie Robson with a 77. Darby Laurvick finished with a nice 85 with Ashlyn Einwachter holding an 87, Ashley Ringo a 92.

For the boys Drew Angelo place third overall with a 74, Mark Bruton with an 80, and Mike Wijas holding an 81.

Even though they won, boys coach John Victor wanted them to do better.

“We need to improve on some things,” Victor said, “but the win helped raise the teams’ confidence.”

The win allows both golf teams to move to regionals, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the Lakewood National Golf Club. Victor knows they have some work to do before then.

“My standards are rising, and they know they have to work harder in future tournaments,” he said.
