Rachel Lamoureaux and Olivia Loop – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Monday night held an exciting volleyball game against LRHS rivals Braden River High School. The Mustangs won in five intense sets and now advance to the district semifinal round.

The first set LRHS won 26-24, second set Braden River won 25-17, the third set they won again 25-15. Luckily, fourth set the Mustangs came back and won 25-23. The final set they only had to go to 15 points, which LRHS took home with a win of 15-13.

Mustang junior Maddie Koczersut made the winning shot by spiking the ball down hard. Volleyball coach Perri Hankins said, “It was an exciting match and I was surprised about how crazy and excited the crowd was getting throughout the game.”

Sophomore Rachel Lamoureaux said, “The volleyball game last night was a good battle. Five hard sets of battling back and forth was lots of fun to watch.”

The Lady Mustangs next game in the single-elimination district tournament is against Venice tonight at 7 p.m. at Venice High School.
