Rachel Monroe – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS sophomore Avery Goelz’s softball career stands out because of her athletic ability. Among Goelz’s many accomplishments one of her most recent was being ranked number three in the country by FloSoftball.Goelz fell in love with softball when she was six and a half.
Goelz is currently verbally committed to the Division 1 University of Florida to further her softball career.
As a freshman at LRHS, Goelz was named 8A offensive player of the year by Max Preps all American Honors. Goelz maintained .552 hitting average, a .631 on-base percentage, and a 1.137 slugging percentage.
This sophomore is continually described by her coaches as hard-working and “smooth” for how effortless she looks while playing.
“I love competing against other really good teams and the adrenaline you get when it’s a close game and every pitch matters,” said Goelz.
Goelz is following in her older sister’s footsteps, Kinsey Goelz was a 2017 LRHS graduate and is currently a freshman in college playing for the University of Mississippi.
Kinsey was also a standout throughout her entire softball career. She was awarded “Teammate of the Year award” and “Defensive Player of the Year award” by her varsity teammates, and Max Preps All American Honors at the end of last softball season.
When asked who her biggest inspiration is Avery Goelz said, “My biggest inspiration is my sister,” said Avery Goelz. “She works harder than anyone I know and she is always pushing herself to do her best.”
