Musical Mustangs continue to march through competition

Markella Paradissis-Wagner – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- On Oct. 14, the Marching Mustangs will compete in the 4a class at the Florida Marching Band Coalition (FMBC) Reginal Competition at Braden River High School.

The Marching Mustangs are ready to perform all three movements of their show, “Dante’s Redemption,” which has music based off the wind ensemble piece “The Divine Comedy” by Robert W. Smith and the video game art of Tal Peleg. At last week’s competition, they only performed two parts of the show and achieved the high score of 71.550.

Band director Ron Lambert said, “We’ve taken great care this season to perfect in detail as we go as opposed to throwing it out there.”

The Marching Mustangs are working hard to improving their performance.

Bands are organized into classes based on size, including 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A. The new qualifications for 4A include up to 100 musicians, including percussion, compared to last year’s 80 wind players. With 100 musicians, the Marching Mustangs are at the top of the 4A class.
