(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a financial aid program which helps students pay for college. Parents and students must fill out the application to be involved in any type of financial aid.

Anyone interested is recommended to go to one of the following workshops hosted by the school district of Manatee County. The student does not have to be enrolled in the host school to attend.

  • Palmetto High School-Oct. 11
  • Bayshore High School-Nov. 8
  • Manatee High School-Dec. 13
  • Braden River High School-Jan. 31
  • Southeast High School-Feb. 21
  • Lakewood Ranch High School-March 14 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Going to the event helps students plan out their college expenses and fill out the online application.

As most people know, college costs a lot of money. The importance of this program is for the students to know what their balance is and what they need to make to follow through with their college career.

The following documents need to be brought to the workshop: social security number, driver license, most recent W-2 forms and other records or money earned during that year, most recent federal income tax return, current business and investment mortgage information, business and form records, stock bonds and other investment records, and alien registration or permanent resident card if the student or parent is not a U.S. citizen.

To fill out an application or find more information, go to the FAFSA website.
