Mustangs excel in year’s first raider meet

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) –  The three LRHS Junior Reserved Officer Training Corps (JROTC) competitive Raider teams competed last Saturday.

The Sarasota Military Academy Invitational meet was hosted at LRHS. The meet started around 7 a.m. when the 35 teams took off in groups to run the 5K run, all 35 teams also completed a 1-mile litter carry, half-mile obstacle course, 100m tire flip, and rope bridge construction/crossing.

The Mustangs took home five trophies and tiles this weekend. The female team competed against 10 other teams. They placed first in tire flip and rope bridge, and second in the obstacle course. These placing also earned them second place overall.

The mixed team took home first place in the rope bridge, and the men’s team faced tough competition over the weekend coming very close to winning.

This is the first time LRHS has competed in this meet. State and national caliber teams from all over Florida came here to compete.

The next raider meet is scheduled for Oct. 21 here at LRHS.
